Quiet-water Conclave 2 at Beale Park, 31 May 2018 – 4 June 2018
Preparations have been going on behind the scenes and bookings are nearly open. Here is some information about this event to pique your curiosity and give you an idea of what to expect at this event.
After the success of style paddling (American freestyle and Canadian style) at Beale Park in 2017, we would like to continue to share this with you this year. This event coincides with, and occurs on the same site as, the Beale Park Boat and Outdoor Show (http://www.bealeparkboatandoutdoorshow.co.uk). The fee for the Quiet–water Conclave includes entrance to the Boat Show, giving you a lovely long weekend of “simply messing around in boats”.
The programme for this event is still being finalised, and the workshops will only be confirmed at the event dependant on interest and coaches. The programme is however already looking fantastic and will include the following:
American Freestyle canoeing (introduction and intermediate)
Canadian style canoeing (introduction and intermediate)
Half day coach-led trips on quiet water
Full day coach-led trips on quiet water
Demonstrations of style paddling
Quiet-water paddling
Silent paddles
Bushcraft
Prices are as follows:
Adult full weekend (trips only) £50
Adult full weekend (trips and coaching) £75
Adult day ticket (trips and coaching) £20
Under 18) (day or full weekend, trips and coaching) £10
Camping is available from Thursday 31st May (evening) to the (early) morning of Monday 4th June 2018. We have our own specific area of the Beale Park Outdoor Show in which to set up camp. The fee for camping is included in the event fee (this does not include food).
Bookings will be open very soon. Keep an eye out for post on here with further details.
Volunteers
Leaders:
We are looking for any volunteers who may wish to help out with the coach-led trips. Volunteers must have appropriate qualifications for this activity. Please get in touch if you are interested in this opportunity Emal mark-jan@opencanoe.info
Demonstrations:
We are also looking for additional paddlers who would like to offer a demonstration (either American Freestyle or Canadian style). Let’s use this event to promote our sport. Please do get in touch if you feel you could help out. Email mark-jan@opencanoe.info
Drop in sessions:
Finally if anyone has a ‘drop-in session’ that they would like to run at this event, please do get in touch with your ideas. We plan to run a series of short (30mins-1 hour) sessions that can be access by those attending the Boat Show as well as those attending this OCA event. We look forward to hearing from you.
**If you are volunteering for any of the above, the fees and booking system remains the same as detailed earlier in this post**
Please do get in touch with questions, suggestions and ideas. We look forward to seeing you all at Beale Park.

Apache Canoes
Really looking forward to this event. Stu and I will be exhibiting at the show with a whole fleet of Apache canoes, including the new Trekk 165T, in lots of different materials. Our stand will be on the lakeside so easy access for those who fancy having a go.
Mark/Stu
Our annual Canoefest will be held at Hay on Wye between May 25th & 28th. There will be several canoe traders and exhibitors there, it would be great to have the apache stand there too.

Hi Alan
I was just waiting to confirm that my son wasn't returning from uni that weekend for his 21st birthday. Luckily for all of us, he's in the middle of exams,(Boo!) so we're postponing celebrations until mid June. All of which means that the Apache demo boats will be at Hay-on-Wye as well as Beale Park. (Yay!)
Cheers

Duplicates
Okay, that was a weird one. If any mods out there can get rid of the duplicates that would be great.
Cheers, Mark
