Up, up and away (Upstream travel) - 16th & 17th March 2019

No need to always go with the flow...!

In this fully coached weekend, we'll look at the wide range of techniques used to make effective upstream travel. Which ones are suitable in which situations and why.


Course based in Llangollen, North Wales. 


Equipment hire available at additional cost and location may change subject to water and weather conditions.

OCA North West Regional white-water weekend

29th & 30th March 2019

Hosted by Joanne Sidwell & Don Paddler, the OCA North West regional group invite you to take part in a weekend of Grade 2/3 white-water paddling.

Based out of the Dalesbridge Lodge facility, the event will see opportunities to paddle the following rivers dependant on water levels:

River Lune
River Eden
River Calder
River Ribble

Foundations of Open Canoe safety. South East 6th-7th April 2019

Description.
A two day training course looking at confidence building by exploring ways that you can help keep yourself and others safe on and around the water.

Day 1.
Based at the Marlin (WAM canoe club) site in Yalding on the River Medway in Kent.

Dry land session will cover the principal that safety is a way of thinking.

Wet sessions will look at kit and ways to put that thinking into practice.



Day 2. 
An accompanied trip on part of the River Medway Canoe trail with some practical exercises.

Easter on The Norfolk Braods

Our first visit of 2019 To Barton Turf to experience some great flat water paddling in Britain's Magical Waterland. A variety of rivers, canals and Broads to explore from our base at Barton Turf with the added bonus of Otters, Kingfishers and the elusive Bittern. This is likely to be a combined event with OCSG and WCHA so we have every base covered. If we go to Horstead Mill we can also find some East Anglian White water for those who want some froth on their bow!

Open Canoe Festival, Drome, France

Paul Villecourt and his team will once again be hosting the Open Canoe Festival and in 2019 it is back to the traditional Easter weekend. 
This event here on the OCA FB Group has been is created for OCA members to note their interest so people can arrange lift shares etc. 
It is bound to be a popular event with opportunities to extend your holiday and paddle other rivers either before or after the event.
